A few notes on getting started, making it ring, and keeping your tunes.
Start composing
Keys 1–7 enter C through B; 0 adds a rest. Hold a note key to make it dotted. Keys 8 and 9 change length, * changes octave, and # toggles a sharp. The handset Options menu and the app’s ⋯ menu provide playback, tempo, saving and imports.
Open Help for the keypad guide or guided first melody. Switch to Editor to move and resize notes on a piano roll. My tunes holds your saved copies and the searchable Discover collection.
Use your tune as an iPhone ringtone
- Choose Make ringtone in the app. Preview and optionally trim the clip.
- Save the MP3 to Files. Ringtone clips are limited to 29.5 seconds.
- On iOS 26 or newer, touch and hold the MP3 in Files, choose Share, then Use as Ringtone.
If that action is unavailable, import the MP3 into GarageBand, place it at the start of a song, then export the song as a ringtone. Follow Apple’s GarageBand walkthrough. The app includes both sets of instructions; it cannot silently assign a system ringtone.
A handset video is for sharing your performance. Use the audio file for ringtone setup.
Install and use offline
On iPhone, open the app in Safari and choose Share → Add to Home Screen. On supported Android/desktop browsers, use the browser’s install option or Add to Home Screen in app Help.
Let the first online download finish before going offline. Updates arrive automatically after the app protects open drafts; an active export finishes first.
Where are my tunes?
Drafts, saved tunes and settings live on the current device and browser/app container. They do not sync between Safari, the native app or other devices. Clearing website/app data removes that collection. Export a tune you want to keep elsewhere before clearing data.
Sound or export trouble
Check melody volume in Sound & preferences and your device’s volume/output. Try a short tune and an MP3 export first. Video support depends on the browser; MP4 is used where supported, otherwise WebM. Keep the export screen visible during recording.
If sharing is cancelled, return to the save step and try again. A failed offline download can be retried online. If update storage cannot be verified, export your melody before following the app’s recovery guidance.
